About the Event

Design a wired or wireless robot within the specified dimensions that can be manually controlled and navigate through all the turns of the track. The robot that completes the specified task in the shortest time will be declared the winner. Think your robot can overcome every obstacle, big or small, in the shortest possible time.

Event Rules

ROBOT SPECIFICATIONS

  1. The maximum dimension of the robot can be 25 cm × 20 cm × 15 cm (L × B × H), with an exception of up to 10% error.
  2. The robot may be wired or wireless.
  3. For wired bots, the wire should be long enough to cover the entire track and must remain slack throughout the complete run.
  4. The maximum weight of the robot must not exceed 3 kg.
  5. Participants will be provided with a 230 V, 50 Hz standard AC supply. Participants must arrange their own adapter or batteries according to their requirements.
  6. The machine must not be made using Lego parts or any ready-made kit. If such a machine is found, it will be disqualified.

BATTERIES & POWER

  1. The machine must be powered by electrical power only. The use of IC engines is not allowed.
  2. Batteries must be of the sealed, immobilized-electrolyte type, such as gel cells, lithium, NiCad, or dry cells, and must be securely mounted.
  3. The electrical voltage anywhere in the machine must not exceed 12 V DC at any point during the event.

RADIO EQUIPMENT

  1. Changing frequencies by interchanging transmitter and receiver crystals, commonly referred to as reversed frequencies, is prohibited.
  2. 2.4 GHz DSM/DSS systems or any other permitted frequency may be used. Teams must notify the organizers of the transmission technology and crystal frequency used.
  3. No advancement in radio equipment other than bot controlling, regulating, fine-tuning, or trimming will be entertained.

CHECKPOINTS & PENALTIES

  1. There will be 6 checkpoints throughout the entire arena.
  2. Each checkpoint carries 25 points.
  3. A penalty of 50 points will be imposed if a team chooses to skip a checkpoint.
  4. A team cannot skip more than 2 checkpoints.
  5. Each time a team member touches the bot by hand, a penalty of 10 points will be imposed.
  6. After a hand touch, the bot must be placed at the last checkpoint it successfully cleared.

JUDGING

  1. 25 points will be awarded for crossing each checkpoint. Points for each checkpoint will be counted only once.
  2. 30 points will be awarded if the bot successfully completes the entire track.

SCORING

  1. A = 25 points × Number of checkpoints covered during the run
  2. B = 30 points if the bot successfully completes the track
  3. C = 300 - Total time taken in seconds to complete the track
  4. P = Total penalties incurred

Total Score = (A + B + C) - P

GENERAL RULES

  1. This is a racing event, so the fastest and most balanced robot will have the advantage.
  2. All robots must comply with the given specifications.
  3. Each team can have a maximum of 3 members. Students from different institutes may form a team.
  4. Each team member must carry the identity card of their respective institute.
  5. The robot must not cause any damage to the arena.
  6. No test practice will be allowed inside the arena.
  7. The robot must not leave behind any of its parts during the run. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  8. Unethical behaviour may lead to disqualification. Faculty coordinators have the right to take final decisions on any matter during the event.
  9. The judge's decision will be considered final.
  10. Certificates of Participation will be given to all participating teams, except teams that are disqualified for violating the competition rules.

Note: The Coordination Committee reserves the right to add or update any rule.

TRACK SPECIFICATION

  1. The track surface and course line may be uneven.
  2. The racetrack will contain certain obstacles designed to slow down the robot.
  3. The arena may consist of obstacles such as:
    • Switch Bridge
    • Speed Breakers
    • Marble Pit
    • Slippery Path
    • Rotating Disc
    • Curved Ramp Down
    • Seesaw
    • Waterway
    • Other similar obstacles as decided by the organizers

GAME RULES

  1. The competition will follow a time-trial system. Each team will participate in a qualifying round.
  2. The top team from the qualifying round will advance to the final round based on the time-trial results.
  3. For wired robots, the wire must remain slack throughout the run. Pulling the wire to assist the robot in traversing the track may lead to disqualification.
  4. If a robot starts before the official start call, the counter will be restarted and the machine will be given a second chance. If the same violation is repeated, the team will be disqualified.
  5. The robot must be ready when the team's name or number is called.
  6. Team members will be allowed a maximum of 5 hand touches or resets of the robot's position during the run. Each such action will result in a time/score penalty, and the timer will not stop during the process.
  7. The robot will be judged primarily based on the overall points scored.
  8. Machines must not contain ready-made kits, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, or IC engines.
  9. All decisions regarding the robot and its participation will be taken by the organizers.
  10. No team will be given a second chance after completing the track with a poor score.

Note: The Coordination Committee reserves the right to add or update any rule.
