About the Event
Mystery Hunt for Civil Engineers is an exciting, interactive, team-based Civil Engineering challenge that tests students’ technical knowledge, laboratory awareness, observation, problem-solving, teamwork, and time management. Each team receives five unique technical clues that lead them through different Civil Engineering laboratories. At each laboratory station, participants must identify equipment, answer a technical question, or complete a short engineering task before receiving the next coded clue. After successfully solving all five clues, teams must report to a common Final Technical Challenge. Participants must observe carefully, apply their engineering knowledge, decode clues, and work together against the clock to complete the hunt and become the ultimate TECHNICAL TREASURE HUNT 2026 Champion.
Event Rules
- Event Duration: The recommended total event duration is 150–180 minutes, depending on the campus layout and station tasks.
- Team Release: Teams may be released at 2–3-minute intervals or from different starting stations.
- Incorrect Answers: An incorrect technical answer may carry a 1–2-minute penalty or require a short retry, as decided in advance by the organizers.
- Unauthorized Assistance: Unauthorized assistance may result in a penalty or disqualification.
- Final Ranking: Final rankings will consider both the score and verified completion time.
- Tie-Breaker: If two teams achieve equal scores, the team with the shorter verified completion time will rank higher.
Round 1 – Mystery Hunt for Civil Engineers
Round 1 is an interactive Civil Engineering Mystery Hunt designed to test participants’ technical knowledge, observation skills, practical understanding, teamwork, and problem-solving ability.
Each team will begin with a starting mystery clue. The clue will lead the team to a particular location within the Civil Engineering department. At each location, the team must identify the clue and successfully complete a technical Civil Engineering task to receive the next clue.
Challenge Sequence:
Clue → Locate → Technical Task → Verification → Next Clue
Step 1 – Starting Clue:
Each team will be provided with the first mystery clue. Teams must interpret the clue and identify the relevant Civil Engineering laboratory or area where they need to proceed.
Step 2 – Locate the First Clue Point:
Teams must reach the identified location and report to the designated coordinator or volunteer. They will then receive a short technical Civil Engineering task.
Step 3 – Perform the Technical Task:
Teams must complete the assigned task using their Civil Engineering knowledge and practical skills. Tasks may include identification, measurement, calculation, observation, material identification, drawing interpretation, or a small practical activity.
Step 4 – Obtain the Next Clue:
Only after successfully completing the technical task will the team receive the next mystery clue. The clue will lead them to another Civil Engineering-related location.
Step 5 – Repeat the Challenge:
The same process will continue through five clue points. Each clue will require the team to solve a technical task before proceeding to the next location.
Step 6 – Final Clue:
The fifth clue will lead the team to the final location.
Round 2 – Civil Engineering Mystery Quest
Round 2 is a practical and challenging Civil Engineering Mystery Quest designed to test participants’ technical knowledge, logical thinking, observation, teamwork, decision-making, and ability to apply Civil Engineering concepts in real situations.
Qualified teams will be given a mystery quest consisting of a series of Civil Engineering-related challenges. Teams must solve each challenge to obtain the next instruction and continue their quest. The challenges may require participants to identify, calculate, measure, interpret, match, construct, or solve a technical problem.
Step 1 – Quest Briefing:
Teams will receive the rules, time limit, starting point, and first mystery challenge.
Step 2 – Solve the Mystery Challenge:
Teams must carefully observe the given situations, clues, drawings, materials, instruments, or Civil Engineering elements and determine the correct answer or solution.
Step 3 – Perform the Assigned Task:
After solving the mystery, the team must perform a related practical Civil Engineering task. The task may involve measurement, identification, calculation, drawing interpretation, material identification, sequencing, or field-based observation.
Step 4 – Unlock the Next Quest:
Successful completion of the task will provide the team with the next clue or instruction. Teams must then proceed to the next designated location or challenge point.
Step 5 – Complete the Quest Chain:
The process continues through multiple mystery challenges. Each completed challenge provides information required to solve the next challenge.
Step 6 – Final Mystery Challenge:
The final clue will lead the team to the Final Civil Engineering Quest, where participants must combine the information obtained during the quest and complete the final technical challenge.
